About the organisation
Islamic Relief is an international relief and development organisation alleviating poverty and suffering regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief. Established in London in 1984 by doctors and activists Islamic Relief has grown to be world-wide and is well-known as an effective and highly respected international NGO.
Providing emergency relief and disaster preparedness in over 30 countries Islamic Relief also specialises in providing leadership on sustainable development, education and training, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, income generation and orphan support.
Islamic Relief Australia is a member of the global federation and has an annual turnover of almost $10m, employs 19 staff and over 150 national volunteers to support local and international emergencies, welfare and development projects, as well as fundraising and advocacy.
Islamic Relief Australia is a member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and adheres to the ACFID Code of Conduct which defines minimum standards of governance, management and accountability of development for NGO’s.

The Role
In this role you will lead and manage all corporate services including finance, ICT, human resources including performance management, administration, property and facilities, planning and organisational development.
This is a hands-on role with day to day oversight of all aspects of corporate governance and management ensuring that robust integrated frameworks are operating throughout the organisation enabling the achievement of objectives, annual plans, budgets and key performance indicators.
Reporting to the CEO you will also be a member of the senior leadership team responsible for overseeing organisational compliance working with the chair and the board of trustees.
Skills Required
You are currently operating at a senior level in a similar role ideally for another relief and development agency, NGO, education institution, charity or like-minded government agency or corporate.
Your leadership, staff management and commercial acumen skills have been developed from the other senior complex roles you have held in your career along with strong technical abilities in finance, HR, ICT and administrative skills.
With a focus on nurturing internal and external relationships, your influential communication style will be an asset. The successful candidate will also have the following skills:
- A commitment to quality and compliance, whilst overseeing contract management
- The ability to implement operational change across the organisation, working closely with the CEO
- Ideally a relevant postgraduate qualification
- Empathy for or an understanding of the non-profit and community based sector
