The position

SVA has a rare and rewarding opportunity for a Director, People & Culture to join our growing, dynamic and engaged team. The overall purpose of this position to lead and support SVA’s people objectives to contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s purpose and deliver on strategy outcomes.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with SVA’s Executive Committee, the Director, People & Culture will effectively build the people and culture capability of the organisation; lead and manage an effective human resources function to support management of the employee lifecycle; and contribute to broader organisational and strategic management as part of the SVA Leadership Team. The position also has a key role as ambassador for organisational culture and values, ensuring they are visible, embedded and upheld.

With the last two SVA staff surveys showing 83% overall for employee engagement across our growing team of almost 115 employees, this is a fantastic opportunity to lead a highly valued People & Culture function.

Who we are
We are looking for a self-driven people leader with organisational agility and a proven ability to build trusted relationships across all levels. You will have a depth of previous experience in progressively senior Human Resource Management roles within medium sized organisations. This role requires expertise across strategy development, execution and delivery – some days you will be very hands on and others, advising the Executive Committee and CEO.

As a trusted expert providing strategic advice to inform ongoing operations and expected decisions, you will come to the role with exposure to a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, people development, remuneration, employee relations and HR analytics and systems. You will be skilled designing and leading initiatives relating to organisational development and able to confidently advise executive and leadership teams on broad-ranging people related issues. To be successful in this role you will be able to think on your feet and build, promote and enrol people in the big picture. This unique role provides exposure to an interesting and inspiring scope of work addressing disadvantage in Australia.
