About the role

Counsellor within the Early Intervention Services program is a part time (0.8 FTE, 60 hours a fortnight), fixed term contract for 12 months, based in Deakin, ACT. There are two positions available.

Reporting to the Counselling Team Leader, Counsellor will provide therapeutic services to families in the form of counselling to couples, individuals, and families who are seeking improved relationships, or resolution of relationship difficulties

To be successful in this role, you are required to possess:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in social work, counselling, psychology or other similar field.
  • Ability to demonstrate a broad theoretical approach to relationship counselling (including familiarity with systems theory) and an understanding of the theoretical and practice frameworks applicable to family violence and abuse.
  • Demonstrated experience in counselling, trauma and child inclusive practice as well as knowledge of domestic violence, crisis intervention models, grief and loss in the context of family separation and child development.
