About the organisation

Organisation Name : Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA)

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is the new external dispute resolution scheme that deals with complaints about financial products and services.

A not-for-profit, non-government organisation, AFCA resolves complaints in a fair, independent and efficient manner. Our service is free to the public, with the cost of running the service being met by our member financial firms.

AFCA has offices in Melbourne and Sydney, but our service is accessible to all Australians.

About the role

The Independent Assessor (IA) function has been established to review and assesses service level complaints made about AFCA, make findings, and in appropriate cases make recommendations, including for the payment of compensation.

The Office of the IA is looking to appoint an Assessments Manager on a full time, fixed term contract until 31 December 2019 to provide support to the IA. The Assessments Manager will investigate and draft independent assessments in response to complaints about AFCA service standards and maintain appropriate and accurate records and data to enable quarterly reporting to the AFCA Board and ASIC.

To be successful in the role you must demonstrate that you can exercise sound judgement and impartially. You will have qualifications and experience in either dispute resolution or the legal sector. Experience in complaint management will be considered favourably. Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

In return, we offer you genuine career development opportunities and the ability to make a difference in an organisation with a positive culture. We also encourage work-life balance and offer extensive health and wellbeing initiatives, including an onsite employee assistance program. Salary packaging options and social events are also included.
