Organisation Name : KidsXpress

KidsXpress is a specialist trauma focused organisation that provides Expressive Therapy programs and Trauma Informed Education services.
 
The Expressive Therapy programs are offered to children and families facing challenges, loss and trauma in their lives. During the KidsXpress programs, children are finding ways to understand their situation through creative therapies, including: music, art, drama, dance-movement and play therapy, which provide the foundations for positive coping mechanisms and reparative therapeutic relationships. KidsXpress works closely with community partners to deliver the therapy programs across Sydney.

Our Trauma Informed Education services work with school leaders and educators across Australia to create positive, nurturing school environments where students and staff thrive. We build the capacity of schools, educational leaders, teachers and support staff to effectively cater for the social, emotional and behavioural support needs of all students using a trauma informed approach.

About the role

The Head of Programs provides support for all programs of KidsXpress to demonstrate evidence informed good practice and effective organisational performance. It has a key role to play in strategic planning and business development including the development of new service models, funding submissions and revenue generation.

The role will also be required to represent KidsXpress amongst stakeholder groups in relation to the profile of KidsXpress and its role within the expressive therapy, trauma informed practice, childhood trauma and not for profit sectors.

The role requires a strong leader with excellent staff management and stakeholder engagement skills and a successful track record in program delivery and development.

This is a newly created position providing a great opportunity to join a dynamic, forward thinking team where you will play an exciting and crucial role in the development and growth of KidsXpress.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in expressive or creative arts, psychology, allied health, education or a welfare- related field or other relevant disciplines;
  • An understanding of the issues surrounding complex childhood trauma;
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience in managing the programs of an organisation, including implementing and developing service delivery plans;
  • An understanding of research principles and methodologies;
  • Experience managing teams;
  • High level communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Negotiating skills
  • Experience working in or with the not for profit sector.
