About PayPal Giving Fund

Harnessing PayPal’s assets, PayPal Giving Fund is working to create a network of donors, businesses & charities so everyone can participate in helping to increase the volume and scale of charitable giving around the world.

PayPal Giving Fund has a long history of generating new funds for charities through technology. Originally founded as “MissionFish” in the U.S. 1999, we partnered with eBay in 2003 to create an award-winning suite of tools that enabled people to give while buying and selling. The success of the program led to eBay Inc’s acquisition of our technology and assets, as well as the creation of a new U.S. charity (PPGF US) in 2011. We formally established PayPal (then part of eBay Inc) as the sole Member of PPGF in 2013, and the organization has remained part of the PayPal group since its separation from eBay in 2015. Our international expansion began in the U.K., and in 2018 is extending to Canada and Australia.

Working with leading internet businesses, PayPal Giving Fund generated more than $100m in donations globally in 2017 to benefit more than 45,000 charities. Participation in PayPal Giving Fund is open to all tax-deductible organizations that meet our eligibility requirements, and we provide donation and donor reports, issue tax receipts, aggregate donations for monthly electronic distribution, and handle legal registration requirements — without charging donors or charities for our services.

PayPal Giving Fund Australia

PayPal Giving Fund Australia launched in November 2018.

PayPal Giving Fund Australia is a Public Ancillary Fund and registered charity with the Australian Not-for profit Commission. It is also has relevant state fundraising licences.

The trustee of the PayPal Giving Fund is the PayPal Giving Fund Australia Company Ltd (AU Company). The board of the trustee currently has 3 directors from PayPal Australia. The board is now seeking two independent directors to complement the skills of the executive directors.
