The Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate (ANZUP) Cancer Trials Group is a cancer co-operative trials group conducting clinical trials research to improve treatments and outcomes of bladder, kidney, testicular and prostate cancers.
ANZUP brings together a leading multi-disciplinary network of oncology, surgical, medical, radiation, nursing, psychology and allied health professionals from within the urogenital cancer field to conduct vital research through clinical trials.

About the role

- Help make a difference to below the belt (prostate, kidney, testicular and bladder) cancer research
ANZUP is looking for an experienced and collaborative Partnerships Manager to join it’s small, vibrant and hard working team.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Partnerships Manager will play a vital role in engaging with major donors, philanthropic organisations / individuals and community fundraisers to achieve the organisation’s mission against ANZUP’s strategic plan. You will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships among business partners while also developing strategies to increase ANZUP’s revenue stream. Working in cooperation with the Marketing and Communications Manager you will:
- Build and develop a strong holistic philanthropic strategy and operational plan
- Improve the loyalty, retention and giving levels of supporters
- Develop, test and implement new innovative and digital fundraising initiatives
- Maximise the success of the fundraising and philanthropic giving at ANZUP
Key Responsibilities:
Partnerships
- Develop and implement philanthropic program fostering relationships with new and existing donors and philanthropic organisations including administrative duties
- Research and apply for government and philanthropic grant applications to support and grow ANZUP fundraising revenue
- Research and write compelling proposals and letters to agreed audiences
Fundraising
- Working in cooperation with the Marketing and Communications Manager, drive the development and implementation of ANZUP’s fundraising strategy
- Working in cooperation with the Marketing and Communications Manager on ANZUP’s charity events, including the Below the Belt Pedalthon, fostering supporters and donors and identifying new opportunities through corporate partnerships
- Identify new fundraisers, supporters and participants to help grow ANZUP’s profile and fundraising opportunities
- Manage and administer community fundraisers and events
- Research opportunities and relationships for ANZUP to be involved in community / corporate events, programs and initiatives that are aligned with ANZUP fundraising strategy
Business Development
- Identify prospects through specific research criteria with philanthropic, partnerships and donor profile development and progress relationships
- Nurture relationships and look for opportunities for increased revenue / engagement
- Develop stewardship activities and connect donors to the work of below the belt cancer research / clinical trials
Administration
- Ensure all philanthropic and fundraising activities are tracked in the organisation’s database
- Utilise data from the database to create reports for measurement and evaluation, as well as identify new and innovative opportunities for fundraising
- Administration as required
What you will need to succeed
- Prior experience in a similar role with 5 years or more experience
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in fundraising, philanthropy and partnerships
- Highly motivated individual who is a great ‘connector’, ‘influencer’, networker and looking for an opportunity to drive growth to support ANZUP’s mission
- Experience in developing and implementing strategy to engage donors and philanthropists
- Demonstrated experience and success engaging and retaining major donors and philanthropists
- Possess an entrepreneurial approach to the role
- Be creative and imaginative with a willingness to try anything
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Good project management, planning and coordination in a multi-task environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to think laterally in relation to problems/issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Self-motivated and outcome focused, with the ability to work both within a team environment and autonomously
- Superior attention to detail, while demonstrating creative flair and judgement
- High degree of computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Positive, engaging and approachable attitude
- Strong client-service focus and commitment
- Understanding of the not-for-profit sector
- Ability to work occasional weekends or outside of hours e.g. Pedalthon events and Annual Scientific Meeting
