About the role

Generation is looking to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will head their operations in Australia, provide operational direction and leadership, and manage key stakeholder relationships.  The COO will work with Generation Australia and Global Generation leadership to formulate, drive and execute on strategy;  lead the Generation coalition in Australia; build and directly manage a team of staff (recruiting, placement, operations functions, among others), and direct the expansion of cities, programs, and students.

As COO, you will oversee the implementation of Generation programs across geographies and sectors and oversee the design and implementation of initiatives including recruitment, training and transition to employment. You will ensure programs are run effectively and consistently within Generation guidelines and provide problem solving and tactical support.  You will also oversee financial management, planning, systems and controls, grow the team as required and represent Generation’s efforts with potential partners (employers and training providers) and funders.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned business leader with hands-on, operational experience (overseeing multiple sites or projects simultaneously), capable of scaling up organisations and leading a fast growing (skills training related) business.  You will be capable of successfully developing and managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level.  An understanding of for purpose / education-related operations and networks would be advantageous but not essential.

You will be entrepreneurial and innovative in your approach with a positive, solutions and impact orientated attitude.  You will be experienced with financial planning, able to manage budgets efficiently, have the ability to lead and manage diverse teams and possess a professional demeanour, excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
