About the organisation
Mary MacKillop Today was formed when Mary MacKillop International, the Mary MacKillop Foundation and the Josephite Foundation merged, in July 2018. Mary MacKillop Today is committed to continuing the works of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, with the utmost respect for their history and achievements, and in the spirit of Australia’s first saint, Mary MacKillop.
About the role
Through access to education and learning of practical life skills, Mary MacKillop Today seeks to transform the lives of the poor and the marginalised so they can realise their potential and participate fully in the community. The core project principles of Mary MacKillop Today are grounded in Catholic Social Teaching and the work of Mary MacKillop and Board members will have a genuine interest and commitment to Mary MacKillop Today’s vision and purpose. Their aim is to ensure the dignity of all is realised through compassion and justice so you must have a passion for service to the poor and a commitment to justice.
As a result of the merger Mary Mackillop Today are looking to appoint three new Non-Executive Directors to their board. With a genuine commitment to the work undertaken, you will have an excellent understanding of good governance and the for-purpose (not-for-profit) sector. You will be strategic, commercial and an excellent communicator, able to lead through organisational growth. You will be considerate, but curious around better ways to deliver greater impact in support of the organisations mission and vision. In particular, we are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who have experience in the education sector, risk and / or indigenous inclusion.
It is estimated that this role will take approximately 10 – 15 hours per month and requires attendance at Board and Committee meetings. The Board meets approximately 6 times a year in North Sydney. Board members may be expected to occasionally attend public functions and make public statements as an advocate for Mary MacKillop Today. This is an excellent opportunity, to work with a refreshed and transformational board committed to good governance and transparency to deliver positive outcomes for marginalised individuals both in Australia and overseas.
