Organisation Name : Asylum Seekers Centre

The Asylum Seekers Centre provides practical and personal support for people seeking asylum living in the community.

ASC purpose is to:

  • Provide support and services for people seeking asylum to enable them to become independent and valued members of the community.
  • Advocate for a supportive policy and service framework that recognises the rights and needs of people seeking asylum in Australia – regardless of how they arrive.
  • Create a welcoming and supportive community – involving people from all walks of life in our work while building understanding of asylum issues and support for people seeking asylum.

Our services include casework, accommodation, financial relief, health care and counselling, employment assistance, education, advocacy, food and recreational activities.

We rely on philanthropic grants, individual donations, some state government support, a dedicated team of professional staff and hundreds of volunteers to undertake our work.

ASC aims for equality and diversity in recruitment, employment and across all areas of our work.

The successful applicant will require a valid NSW Working with Children’s Check.

About the role

The Head of Service Delivery is a values-based, strategic and process-minded leader. The role is responsible for leading a team of professionals in all operational aspects of service delivery to ensure a welcoming and supportive environment for people seeking asylum. The position reports to the CEO.

This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Newtown, Sydney.

The primary responsibilities of the Head of Service Delivery are:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for Managers within service delivery
  • Provide role clarity, set clear standards and ensure accountability for performance and results
  • Develop long-term strategy and operational plans for the service delivery area in line with ASC’s strategic goals
  • Build and cultivate a high-performing service delivery team and play an active role in attracting, retaining and developing team members
  • Measure and evaluate progress against service delivery goals through KPIs and timely and effective feedback
  • Lead the process for reviewing and updating service delivery policies and procedures in line with compliance and legislative requirements
  • Ensure effective delivery of service delivery initiatives within the budgetary constraints set by the organisation
  • In partnership with the CEO and service delivery managers, develop engagement and collaboration strategies to enhance relationships with key external stakeholders and other relevant agencies
  • Assist in the preparation of reports to support advocacy

About you

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • 5-10 years’ experience as a Manager leading other Managers
  • Problem-solving, project management and creative resourcefulness
  • Action-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and build capabilities of a passionate and diverse team
  • Steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Degree or relevant experiences in Human Services
  • Sense of humour
  • NSW Driver’s License
  • Flexibility in work hours may be necessary
