Recovery Support Worker – Womens Early Intervention

About the Position
Anglicare’s Homelessness Services strive to empower people to make their own decisions and provide them with the resources they need to take control of their lives and participate in their community. Our team provides accommodation and holistic support via a range of services to help people rebuild their self-worth to make sustainable changes in their lives.
  
Our new program provides case management support to women referred through the Women’s Early Intervention Program (WEIS), who are in contact with the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court or are on a probation and parole order at the Brisbane Central and Brisbane South Probation and Parole office.  We are looking for a Recovery Support Worker to join our team in Toowong, working 38 hours per fortnight, on a contract until June 2021.  Although this is not an identified position, we are very interested in hearing from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.
  
The Recovery Support Worker role will support service system navigator to access other support services with a specific focus on addressing the immediate housing needs of women at their point of contact with the criminal justice system.
  
  
About You
With a background in using a strengths-based approach, you will be passionate about supporting women who have a history with the criminal justice system, providing advocacy and assistance in housing and community services. 
Our successful applicant will have:

• Experience in providing a high standard of responsive, strength-based practical support within a trauma-informed framework
• A background in contributing to case management of women, working within Trauma Informed and Recovery Orientated Practice
• Good knowledge of social and community housing, and of issues facing women in the criminal justice system
• Ability to provide practical and emotional support, with a focus on individual needs and situations
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of people
• Proven capability in maintaining objective, accurate and relevant records based on confidentiality, respect and client-centred care
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, which maintain a level of professionalism
• Confidence in self-management and the prioritisation of your own workload, along with a collaborative nature and interest in being part of a team 

You will need to hold a Diploma in Community Services, Justice Studies or a related field and/or equivalent practical experience; a current Blue Card (Working with Children) and Queensland Driver Licence.
