The Cancer Epidemiology Division (CED) conducts a broad range of research aimed at expanding our understanding of the factors that contribute to or protect against the development of cancer, or survival following a cancer diagnosis. It comprises a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, dieticians, data managers and support staff, committed to understanding how to improve our efforts at cancer control.
About the role
About your opportunity
We are seeking a Unit Leader, Research Coordination to join the Cancer Epidemiology Division. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Research Operations your role is to:
- Investigate and provide advice on policy or legislative changes affecting epidemiological research and the ethical conduct of research, including ethical considerations involving human biospecimens and genomic data
- Oversee participant recruitment, and the conduct of studies across the CED research platforms.
- Ensure ethical conduct of research and compliance with governance requirements, legislation, guidelines and codes of practice.
- Lead and manage staff
All about you
We are looking for someone with:
- Tertiary degree in Science, Health Information Management, or related field
- Demonstrated understanding of current privacy legislation and ethical considerations that underpin the responsible conduct of epidemiological research, including those related to genetic research and data linkage activities
- Substantial experience managing research studies involving human participants, including handling sensitive information and preparing submissions and reports for human research ethics committees
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing staff
