About Us
Launch Housing has an ambitious and singular mission to end homelessness. We aim to get people housed, keep them housed, and be an influential voice on ending homelessness. We are a secular, independent provider of choice for clients and the ‘go to’ organisation on homelessness for government, media, philanthropy, private donors and the community.
The Role
We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join the casual pool within our dedicated Initial, Assessment and Planning (IAP) team’s in Collingwood, Cheltenham and St Kilda, committed to working with people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.
Our IAP Service is Launch Housing’s first point of contact with our clients. The role of staff in this team is to provide information, referrals and support to assist families and individuals to find short term and long term, secure and affordable housing. The service is extremely high volume, responding to the needs of homeless people, many of whom are experiencing crisis. Therefore, we are looking for people who can work under pressure with the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
The IAP team collectively covers the hours of 9am- 5pm, Monday to Friday. Locum shifts will always be a minimum of 4 hours and we are ideally seeking flexible applicants with a broad range of availability across the working week to help assist us with appropriate coverage and resourcing.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be empathetic and able to relate effectively and sensitively to people from diverse backgrounds. A track record of working well in a team environment is also vital. You will be tertiary qualified in human services, social work or other relevant discipline and have a comprehensive understanding of the issues which those experiencing homelessness confront.
Working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that uses innovative housing practices, this exciting and challenging position offers applicants the opportunity to build and empower the lives of people experiencing homelessness!
