About the organisation
Hand Heart Pocket – The Charity of Freemasons Queensland is an independent Foundation founded by the Freemasons of Queensland with a history of community support spanning more than 110 years. The Foundation provides sustainable support state-wide and locally across Queensland where there is limited access to other funding, giving a hand up where it is needed most. The work of the Foundation is driven by a purpose to build on the legacy of Freemasonry to empower, support and enable humanity in an ever-changing world.
About the role
The Foundation is now at a critical point in its evolution. With a strategic philanthropic focus, a solid theory of change and an impressive track record (in a few short years), the Board are looking to appoint a new CEO. This new leader will ensure Hand Heart Pocket continues to progress towards becoming one of Queensland’s leading charitable organisations. As CEO you will bring your leadership capability and awareness of the importance of accountability to ensure the development and implementation of the organisation’s overarching strategy, to create measurable social impact across Queensland.
Critical to the success of this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- A solid understanding of, and experience in, best practice philanthropy (nationally and internationally), which will be underpinned by the Foundation’s theory of change.
- Demonstrated alignment to the purpose of the Foundation, particularly at-risk youth, and knowledge of the complexity of social challenges.
- The ability to inspire and mobilise a small, but capable team and instil a commitment to continuous improvement.
- A proven track record in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans.
- Experience in strategic grantmaking with a focus on evaluation and impact.
- Excellence in communication to ensure all stakeholders are appropriately engaged in and aware of the work of the Foundation.
- An understanding of the for-purpose sector more broadly and experience in working with, or alongside, charitable organisations.
- The ability to communicate clearly and authentically to a wide range of stakeholders.
- An open mind and collaborative approach.
- The ability to work with a committed Board to ensure the Foundation’s vision, mission and values are relevant and upheld.
- Experience in financial oversight and management to ensure short term financial health and long-term sustainability.
