Working closely with consumers, state/territory-based Member Organisations and affiliates, the palliative care and broader health, aged care and disability care workforce, PCA improves access to and promotes the need for, palliative care.

PCA currently has an excellent opportunity for a Digital Communications Officer to join the Communications team in Canberra, ACT.  This position is a 12 month contract and is part-time, up to four days a week.

Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager and working with the Communications and Events team, this role will assist in the production of Palliative Care Australia’s (PCA) online content and maintaining PCA’s National Palliative Care Service Directory. 

Working in a small team, your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Assist in executing PCA’s communications and digital strategies
  • Assist with day-to-day website updates and content, including text, audio, video, images, publications and weekly newsletters
  • Maintain, develop and promote PCA’s Directory (Salesforce) in order to deliver appropriate and accurate information online
  • Provide a central point of contact for palliative care services that wish to be listed in the Directory
  • Support the communications team in preparing content for online platforms, events and other PCA publications
  • Maintain effective and collaborative partnerships with consumers, our Member Organisations and the palliative care workforce.

 You will need to possess a broad knowledge of internet technologies and best practice methods of website content presentation and management, software, and content management systems (CMS).   

You will have strong communication skills (oral and written) and this will extend to your interactions with stakeholders where you’ll be able to work productively with a broad range of people from varied backgrounds.  Equally, you will have exceptional attention to detail and be able to prioritise your workload and adapt quickly to achieve outcomes within agreed timeframes.  A high level of tact and professionalism is essential

An understanding of Web standards (W3C), protocols and knowledge of HTML, and experience in the use of Content Management Systems and Salesforce will be advantageous.  Additionally, a sound understanding of issues surrounding user experience, accessibility and information architecture will be highly regarded.
