RISING is a surge of art, music and ceremony in the heart of Melbourne.

Taking the place of the Melbourne International Arts Festival and White Night Melbourne, RISING is a major cultural event for the Asia Pacific Region created by a diverse team of local, national and international artists and curators.

RISING will begin on the evening of the total lunar eclipse in May 2021. Interlocking circles of experience and connection will radiate through the night, as the city re-synchronises and is re-energised with public art, performance and music spanning the emerging and iconic, the epic and intimate.

The inaugural festival will take place 26 May – 6 June 2021.

The festival will be also be engaged to run additional projects and will provide the full support and resourcing of the organisation required to successfully deliver these projects.

THE ROLE

Working with the Deputy Head of Production and Senior Operations Manager, you'll devise and oversee the technical and operational delivery of a group of selected program items. The Senior Production Manager's role covers scoping, budgeting, scheduling, planning, site layout, staffing and delivery of particular works. 

You're a proactive thinker and a practical and pragmatic project manager, always seeking the best artwork outcomes. No one holds you to a higher standard than yourself. Working with the Production team, the Co-Artistic Directors and other key staff, you'll ensure the technical and operational delivery is fully met. Efficient, thorough and resourceful, you're capable of implementing an approach that delivers key projects safely and on budget, as well as .

You're a problem solver, who isn't deterred by the shifting sands of festival event production. You can spot a potential issue at twenty paces and willingly contribute to ongoing discussions around the technical development and festival production resources required. You’re favoured way of working is collaborative, though you are able to work through specific tasks autonomously as needed.

You don’t believe in surprises. You're masterful at communication and keeping all stakeholders in the loop and on the same page. You understand and are able to balance the competing priorities of artists, venues, staff, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders. You’re a natural leader, who has a knack for getting the best out of individual team members and knowing how to best support them, too.
