Lives Lived Well delivers world-class, evidence-based, clinical services to support people experiencing difficulties with alcohol and other drugs, gambling and associated mental health issues. We provide residential and community services in more than 40 locations across Queensland and NSW.  Our driving belief is that ‘with the right support everyone can change to live their lives well’. 

About the role

  • A senior leadership position driving improved health, economic and social outcomes for First Nations peoples and communities.
  • Influential regional role in the community health sector delivering AOD and other social services across Far North Queensland.
  • A progressive and dynamic for purpose organisation committed to our purpose and working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Lives Lived Well’s Far North Queensland footprint includes residential AOD recovery (Shanty Creek, Mareeba) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women, supporting them to find lasting solutions to their drug and alcohol problems.  From Cairns we provide transitional housing, ambulatory withdrawal, day programs, family support and gambling support. We also provide community re-entry support for people leaving correctional facilities.  Our programs have a strong emphasis on providing a safe and supportive environment to learn about themselves, understand alcohol and drug use and develop new ways to respond to challenges in life.  Our Shanty Creek residential program is grounded in connection to culture, spirit and place.  

As part of our senior management team, you will lead these services in the region and contribute to the strategic development and clinical governance of the organisation You will:

  • Build strong and collaborative connections with local Indigenous community leadership.
  • Lead a service built on commitment to community and clients and service innovation.
  • Maximise client outcomes and assure clinical integrity through robust clinical management.
  • Maximise service performance through operational, financial and contract management.
  • Inspire your team to deliver services aligned to LLW purpose and strategy. 
  • Continue to grow our impact and reputation across Far North Queensland.

You as a leader

You have a strong connection with our purpose, vision and values and you are prepared to roll up your sleeves to help us achieve our goals – for us and our clients.  You are an experienced hand in our sector, a strong team player but more than that, you are an authentic and optimistic leader who remembers that people are at the centre of what we do.  Your established understanding and connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities will ensure we deeply understand and respond to cultural perspectives.  You will bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Nursing, Social Work (or similar) or relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in managing the delivery of a clinical services team and programs.
  • Fine-tuned people leadership skills – you build people up and are not afraid to have robust conversations.
  • A deep respect for Indigenous culture and for working in partnership with community.
  • Excellent relationship management skills including community/stakeholder engagement.
  • Passion and energy with an innovative mindset, to ensure quality and to drive growth in the services.
  • A collaborative and solution focused approach.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check (or able to apply).
