The Job Description:

We have a very exciting and unique opportunity to join the SOA team in the capacity of an Events Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager of Operations the Events Manager is responsible for creating and delivering a national events portfolio that ensures financial success and growth in corporate, community and individual supporters.  Leveraging on your strong internal and external relationships you will identify, develop and maintain event opportunities to ensure sustainable income, lead and manage financial sponsorship opportunities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and managing a variety of events throughout the year ensuring all events meet objectives and outcomes;
  • Lead and manage corporate, community and individual sponsorships to secure funding for National events;
  • Successful execution of each event including managing allocated budgets, conducting risk assessments, managing effective relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Ensure events are successful, cost effective and delivering a profit, on budget and on time;
  • All events will be compliant to fundraising legislation and state regulatory requirements;
  • Presenting post event analysis and thorough evaluation of each event ensuring recommendations and opportunities for future growth.

You will be responsible to identify, recruit and train a capable sub-committee for each event striving for a challenged, harmonious and high performing team that will successfully deliver on event targets.

The Successful Applicant:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills.  As the successful applicant you need to be a team player, who is highly organised and results driven with experience in efficiently managing people to deliver results and add value to each event, preferably in the not for profit sector.  The role will suit someone with experience in a similar role and who has an established network of relationships.

You must be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Qualifications in Event Management, Marketing, Project Management or associated field;
  • Experience in the Not-for-Profit sector;
  • Relevant experience in co-ordinating and managing events and the ability to present fundraising success;
  • The ability to build relationships and work effectively with a diverse range of people;
  • Capacity to take initiative in order to achieve results;
  • Demonstrated project management skills with an ability to multi-task;
  • Willingness to occasionally work ‘out of hours’ to meet the objectives of the role when required;
  • Self-motivated, good problem solver and enjoys managing multiple tasks and goals;
  • High level negotiation and problem solving skills;
  • Experience with Office265 and digital meetings;
  • You will have a capability to consistently observe our organisations values of respect, trust and sportsmanship while representing SOA.
