About the role

  • Grade 1 or Grade 2
  • Part-time 2 days p.w – 3-year contract

We are seeking to employ an experienced Paediatric Speech Pathologist to work in our multi-disciplinary Child Health team. The role involves the provision of comprehensive assessment and individual/group therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of children and improve speech, language, social interaction and early literacy outcomes.

Your motivation, interpersonal skills, and expertise as a Paediatric Speech Pathologist will see you excel in this role as you:

  • Work collaboratively and effectively within a multidisciplinary child health team and across other teams
  • Demonstrate the ability to administer own clinical work practice and manage waiting lists
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the systemic barriers that socially disadvantaged children and families experience in accessing services and promote access to paediatric allied health services
  • Use your high-level communication and rapport building skills to ensure positive relationships are built and maintained with internal and external stakeholders.

What you will need:

  • Approved qualification in Speech Pathology
  • Experience working with children and families from socially disadvantaged communities and minority groups
  • Experience in providing speech/language therapy services (advice, assessment, therapy and home programs) to children aged from birth to school entry, and provision of education and support to families, carers and professionals in preschool and school settings
  • Experience in planning and leading child communication programs such as It Takes Two to Talk – Hanen Program
