Doncare supports families and individuals of all ages to access opportunities that will assist them in their daily living and enhance family functioning. Doncare provides high quality services in the areas of Counselling, Information and Crisis Support, Family Violence Services, Family Services, and Social Support for Seniors.
Doncare receives funding from local, State and Federal governments to operate some of its programs and also utilises the proceeds of its seven opportunity shops and the support of private donations, philanthropic trusts and the community sector.
About the role
The Team Leader, Counselling and Assessment Services will ensure the continued provision of quality counselling and assessment for clients. The role will incorporate a particular focus on counselling intake, working with the intake coordinator to maximise service responsiveness, this will include some direct client contact.
The role will also carry responsibility for the delivery of Positive Behaviour Support Planning services. The successful candidate will need to be at the proficient level for BSP preparation and have relevant experience and qualifications. A good understanding and familiarity with the Restrictive Intervention Data System (RIDS) is essential.
The position requires a self-motivated innovative individual who has the ability to provide leadership, direction and support to all staff and volunteers within the program.
The position requires Maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely records including those required to be maintained under legislation or funding agreements.
A key part of this role will be contributing to program development and diversification, whilst ensuring the continued smooth running of current operations. The individual must be capable of managing competing priorities whilst continuing to deliver on agreed tasks, reporting appropriately to the Manager, Counselling/Case Management services.
Duties:
- Undertake a range of duties for the planning, direction, control and evaluation of operations for the Counselling services and risk management.
- Plan and co-ordinate Counselling Services
- Assist in the design and delivery of new initiatives such as family supportive counselling, couples counselling, and NDIS behaviour support planning.
- Undertake a range of duties to develop work practice and procedures and provide advice on policy matters and contribute to their development.
- Assist with the coordination of volunteer and student counsellor recruitment, selection, training and orientation.
- Assist in preparations for submissions for funding as required
- Liaise with other appropriate community service providers to ensure effective referral systems and coordination of service provision
- Supervise a team of staff, including providing clinical supervision to a positive behaviour support worker operating a core competency level.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely records including those required to be maintained under legislation or funding agreements
- Participate in the development and maintenance of quality assurance systems to monitor service delivery and targets
- Work within a team setting and participate in regular supervision, team meetings and staff development training as required
- Have well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with a capacity to communicate effectively and in a timely manner, ensuring privacy, security and confidentiality
- Other tasks as required and directed by management.
