The Role:

This position will work within the Homeless hub to provide support assistance to the team and clients as required. The aim is to provide excellent administration and primary telephone assistance to our clients as they present to HHS whether by telephone or presentation to the office. Additionally, to provide administration assistance to the Homeless Hub team to ensure they are able to adequately assist families and individuals who are homeless, about to become homeless or in crisis.

You will be responsible for:

  • To actively contribute to and maintain a ‘first entry point’ environment and telephone service that is positive, safe and welcoming, child and family friendly.
  • Undertake crisis intervention and assessment of presenting clients whether in person or on the phone. Provide informal counselling regarding the range of supports offered within the community.
  • To respond to HHS emails and enquiries in a prompt timeframe and collect and process data collection as required.
  • To complete front desk responsibilities that provides immediate response to clients requiring housing and support assistance.
  • Ensure that accurate, confidential, and professional recording of client details, assistance provided (including HEF and ER) in the Client Management Systems and other data systems as applicable.
  • To proactively work in a manner that assists the client group to move towards independence and self-reliance by implementing client strength and solution-based interventions within appropriate assessment, planning and review procedures.
  • To have or develop a good knowledge of services within the community or knowledge to assess a wide range of services.
  • Comply with legislative requirements and work within organisational policies, procedures, and practice frameworks.
  • Participate in Haven; Home, Safe’s internal intake assessment and follow up meetings as required.

  • You will be passionate about achieving the best outcome possible, self-motivated with a positive and professional approach
  • A focus on providing outstanding customer service working within in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, including demonstrated sensitivity to cultural awareness and needs of clients.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with people in crisis and an understanding of the behaviours of people who are undergoing significant personal crisis due to homelessness and the range of attitudes that are/can be part of that.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and accept a high level of personal responsibility for completing tasks.
