Our Client, Samaritan’s Purse is a nonprofit, Christian organisation providing emergency relief and development assistance to suffering people around the world. Today they are widely known for Operation Christmas Child, a program that has seen more than 60 million shoe boxes distributed worldwide. OCC’s mission is to “demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way, through shoebox gifts, to children in need globally and thus share the Good News of Jesus”.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director you will be integral to the mobilization, empowerment and pastoral leadership of staff and volunteers that make this amazing project possible. You will be responsible to manage and oversee all day-to-day OCC operations including the ongoing engagement with Churches, individuals, businesses, schools and key stakeholders in the success of the OCC shoe box program. Integral to this responsibility is the provision of spiritual leadership, motivation, training and pastoral care to a dedicated team of State and National Managers, Volunteer leaders and teams to effectively increase awareness, grow the support base and raise the level of donor participation throughout Australia and NZ. You will also with the aim of demonstrating Gods love;
- oversee and spiritually shepherd ministry stakeholders to further the ministry of OCC.
- provide leadership and oversight to the National OCC operations which includes the management of facilities, transport, logistics and staff care throughout Australia and NZ.
- Be a key member of the senior management team.
- Liaise with International Management staff to facilitate international operations supported by OCC Australia and NZ.
Samaritans Purse are seeking to appoint a gifted leader to build on the solid foundation that has been put in place by their predecessor and to bring with them their own set of unique skills and talent to this exciting role. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of success in a key senior management role where they have effectively built and developed highly effective teams. We are looking for an astute servant leader who is strongly aligned to the values of this Global Christian organisation, who has the ability to influence others, to facilitate change and build excellent relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally. You will possess excellent people skills, be highly organised and methodical and have experience in providing pastoral care and spiritual leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers. Your experience in managing logistical operations, including warehousing, freight, international shipping and large distribution will be highly regarded.
Your knowledge and understanding of the Christian landscape in Australia will be important to this role as will be your willingness to travel both domestically and internationally regularly.
