The Organisation
 
The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) is a member-based, not-for-profit organisation that champions community broadcasting and plays a vital role in the Australian media landscape.

Six million Australians tune in to the 450+ radio services broadcasting across Australia. These services play an important role in providing a voice for ethnic, Indigenous and other minority groups, as well as supporting independent and emerging musicians and communities not adequately serviced by other broadcasting sectors.

The Role
 
Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is a vital contributor to the senior leadership team.  You will be a trusted advisor, superior communicator and provide financial leadership to CBAA.

Specifically you will:

  • Act as a key business partner to the leadership team, CEO and board
  • Identify and implement financial strategies and systems to position CBAA for growth
  • Provide strategic advice on financial management policies, operations, compliance and reporting
  • Report on financial results and analysis to assist decision making
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the finance team

Skills Required

This role will suit candidates with experience in a similar finance executive leadership role who possess the following transferable skills:

  • High level financial management skills and experience, including accounting qualifications (CPA or CA)
  • Experience in preparing and presenting financial reports to senior boards and committees
  • Extensive experience with accounting for government, philanthropic grants and acquittals
  • Proven interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
  • Experience in managing a team to deliver quality services, manage priorities, assist the business and meet objectives
  • The ability to translate financial information to a variety of stakeholders
  • High level strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
