About the organisation
Founded by St Ignatius Loyola more than 450 years ago, the Society of Jesus (also known as the Jesuits) is an international religious order of priests and brothers within the Catholic Church committed to service in the world in a variety of ways.
The Jesuit presence in Australia began in 1848 and the Australian Province of the Society of Jesus now comprises approx. 100 Jesuits. They work in over 30 ministries in companionship with some 1800 women and men who share the Ignatian vision of the service of faith and the promotion of justice.
Jesuit and Ignatian Spirituality Australia Ltd (JISA) is the entity which coordinates the Province’s Spirituality ministry under the overall coordination of the Society of Jesus in Australia Ltd (SOJA). It has three areas of focus the Spiritual Exercises, Mission Formation and Hospitality. The work of JISA is carried out by mobile teams of Spiritual Directors, Volunteers and Formators (Jesuit and lay) with a Coordination, Finance and Administration Team.
About the role
This role supports the development and offering of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius, Spiritual Direction and Ignatian Retreats for Jesuit and Ignatian Spiritualty Australia.
It provides executive and administrative expertise and support to ministry leadership and members.
We welcome highly competent executive and administrative assistants who are proficient in Microsoft Office and online conferencing, have excellent communication and organisation skills, maturity, discretion and a willingness to engage in and understand the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian Spirituality. You will be part of a national team, based in Pymble NSW, supporting this ministry throughout Australia.
