We are calling for applications from Teacher Aides interested in supporting Down Syndrome Queensland’s Adult Literacy Program.  We have 2 day per week roles available across:

Brisbane: Monday / Tuesday

Gold Coast: Thursday / Friday

Roles commence 28th June and can be combined into a 4 day week role for suitable applicants.

The main focus of this position will be supporting the delivery of the ‘Latch-On Program’ to adults with an intellectual disability, which is due to commence in in July 2021.

Latch-On is an innovative, evidence-based literacy program that changes the lives of young adults with intellectual disabilities. The program provides opportunities for students to increase their literacy skills in a post-secondary school environment, using technology to enhance literacy, self-confidence, independence and work placement opportunities.

Latch-On combines traditional literacy and numeracy teaching styles with technology instruction, also including health and fitness education.  The program has been developed by The University of Queensland and is backed by over 20 years of research.

To be successful in this role you will need to be adaptable, well organized but flexible, have exceptional experience and most of all be willing to have fun, stretch your comfort zone and be creative and innovative in your approach.

We are also currently taking applications from Teachers to lead the program.

To apply for this opportunity please submit your current resume, along with a cover letter outlining your reasons for applying, your suitability for the position and your preference of location and part-time or casual.
