About the organisation
The Museum of Chinese in Australia (MOCA) will be Sydney’s newest cultural institution, dedicated to promoting the contribution, ingenuity and resilience of Chinese Australians. Through research, publication, exhibition, education and public programming, MOCA is for all Australians to share in our history as a culturally diverse nation.
Through the support of the City of Sydney, MOCA occupies a high-profile location in the centre of Haymarket, Sydney’s oldest surviving and largest Chinatown. This distinctive space is set to be transformed into a state-of-the-art museum that will be the only one of its type in New South Wales. With 1.2 million people of Chinese cultural heritage currently living in Australia and with 44% of them residing in New South Wales, the opening of MOCA is both well-positioned and timely.
Currently in an establishment phase and with a distinguished and committed Board of Directors in place, MOCA is significantly progressed towards the opening of the museum in 2022.
