About the organisation

Organisation Name : The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global environmental non-profit non-government organisation working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. Guided by science, they create innovative, on-the-ground solutions that address and tackle significant environmental challenges. In Australia, their work focuses on the Outback, including work with many Indigenous Traditional Owner groups; the Oceans, comprising an extensive shellfish reef building program and the southern Murray-Darling Basin, involving innovative water funds and property management.

About the role

The Carbon Specialist is a new position within TNC and will be responsible for taking a lead role in TNC’s carbon strategy with a particular focus on the 1) management of existing, and development of new, blue carbon projects, 2) expansion of savanna burning carbon methods that reduce emissions and 3) exploration of new opportunities for nature-based carbon sequestration. Reporting to the Conservation Operations Director, the Carbon Specialist will work closely with a team of restoration scientists and project managers to lead the development of new financial concepts, geographies, methodologies and markets, and support engagement with governments and private sector stakeholders to secure investment into TNC’s carbon strategy.
