Title: Director of Care & Quality
Accountable to: Chief Executive Officer
Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience

Registration: Current Registration and Division 1 Nurse with AHPRA
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Registered Nurse Division 1 with minimum 5 years clinical experience
- Achieved or working towards Postgraduate qualifications in Nursing or Management related discipline
- Experience in Residential Aged Care, Accreditations and Legislation
- Extensive knowledge of Aged Care Standards and Accreditation processes
- Knowledge of and experience with regulatory frameworks relating to Aged Care
- Demonstrated computer skills in the Microsoft Office package and the ability to use electronic care systems
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and educate staff
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, auditing and analysis
- Previous experience in a senior management/executive role
- Victorian Drivers Licence
- Current satisfactory National Police Check
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compliance with all legislation relevant to residential aged care
- Commitment to quality and a broad knowledge of ACFI and Accreditation requirements
- Ensure ACFI is maximised through effective care planning, documentation and systems
- Compliance to ACQSC Standards
- Comply with and promote Lyrebird Villages’ policies and procedures
- Commitment to improving and maintaining the lifestyle, wellbeing and safety of the Residents
- Management and maintenance of Lyrebird Villages’ Continuous Improvement system
- Investigate and participate in partnerships, pilot programs and benchmarking activities that will improve or benefit Lyrebird Villages
- Promote, monitor and implement risk management, safety and improvement activities
- Review, recommend and introduce resources, systems and operations
- Attendance at and active participation in meetings, education and the team environment
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management of the care and improvement activities within the facility including the Continuous Improvement Plan, Feedback and Improvement System, Incident Reporting, Audit Systems, Complaints Management
- Operate within the Risk Management framework for the organization
- Monitoring and ensuring that care documentation for residents is maintained by staff in and accurate and timely manner
- Monitor, report and implement Mandatory Reporting Policies and Procedures
- Systematic and timely review and updating of all Policies and Procedures including creation as required
- Assisting with the Human Resources management including recruitment processes, staff performance review process and staff performance management requirements
- Develop, plan and ensure cost effective staff education program is in place that meets the needs of staff, residents and mandatory requirements
- Implementation of and consultation with the CEO regarding directives and time frames to ensure effective management of the clinical requirements are met
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abide by and respect the confidentiality of employees, visitors, clients and the business
- Follow OH&S and company policy and procedure at all times
- Active participation in team/department meetings and other organizational meetings
- Attend/complete all mandatory education as required by LBV
- Participate in staff development and training
- Maintain accurate records, statistics and reports, as needed.
- Participate in service development, if required.
- Ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- All staff within Lyrebird Village work as members of a team and tasks are divided between team members.
- All staff are expected to provide on-going support for each other when needed.
- The facility operates on a twenty-four-hour basis and you will be required to attend across all shifts periodically
- A current valid police record check is required
- The probationary period for this position is 6 months

- Compliance to all ACQSC standards
2. Clinical Care Residents
- Ensure the care requirements are being met to maintain the safety and wellbeing of residents
- Ensure care documentation is maintained to the required standards and evaluations are accurate
- Ongoing management and reporting of specialized nursing needs
Staff
- Ensure medication management competencies are completed
- Ensure medication errors are reported
3. Management Systems Continuous Improvement
- Ongoing identification of improvements
- Audit schedule development and implementation
- Analysis of audit data to five effective feedback and improvement opportunities
- Evidence that policies and procedures are reviewed, promoted and followed
- Maintain compliance with accreditation in all Standards
- Maintain compliance with all legislation
- Complaints are managed and documented as per policy
Meetings
- Active participation and attendance at all required meetings
- Meet timelines for issues identified at meetings
- Ensure Terms of Reference, Agenda, and record of meetings are produced
- Assist with development of meeting calender
Financial
- Monitor and implement budget as directed by CEO
- Monitor and ensure ACFI documentation is accurate and submitted in accordance with regulatory requirements
- ACFI maxmisation to industry standards and expectations
- Check accuracy of care related external contractor invoices
- Management of purchasing of care related supplies, maintenance of accurate stock records and suitable stock levels
Information systems
- Creation and review of all Policies and Procedures
- Utilisation of documentation provided by Lyrebird Villages
- Concise, thorough and accurate documentation in all aspects of the position
Education
- Identification of staff and self needs
- Production and implementation of education sessions for care staff
- Improvement of skills and resources for all care functions
- Assist to create/manage a yearly Education calender and training register
Human Resources
- Adherence to a workplace free from bullying and harassment
- Assist in staff management relating to care delivery performance
- Monitoring of rosters to ensure adequate and appropriate staff skill level for every shift
