About the organisation
In 2008, a group of dedicated women came together to discuss the absence and need for a welcoming,
safe space, free of judgement, discrimination and ethnic divide. They visualised a place where the
spirit is nourished, minds are challenged, and where a diverse community can come together, inspired
with the values of social consciousness and service. Thus, Benevolence Australia was established.
Since its inception more than ten years ago, Benevolence Australia has established a strong foundation
of service, community presence and effective organisational structure. The female-only board
comprises of a mix of highly talented, dedicated and professional women who provide a balanced and
responsible approach to the vision and value of each program the organisation delivers. The
Benevolence Australia ethos encourages all staff, volunteers, community members and participants to
be positive and active contributors to their local and wider communities, promoting a culture of
diversity, yet one of inclusion.
Benevolence Australia continues to remain focused on building upon a vision of service to the
Australian community and the organisation offers a range of Community and Educational Programs to

About the role
The role requires the effective leadership and management of committed and valued Management and volunteer teams. It also encompasses close cooperation and development of relationships with key stakeholders including external partner and collaborative organisations, suppliers, donors, and government and other peak bodies.
Strong strategic and personal leadership skills are necessary in this role to develop and fulfil Benevolence Australia’s vision, mission and values through actively contributing to the growth and success of Benevolence Australia.
The ability to innovate and drive strategic growth via generating new income streams from various stakeholders (including government (both State and Federal), program funding and private donations) is an essential component of this role.
The role is part time (0.6 FTE).
About you
The candidate will demonstrate experience & knowledge of:
- Appropriate qualifications and/or knowledge of and experience in a community organisation at a high or senior management level;
- Proven track record of successful leadership and demonstrated performance in leading an organisation (at least 5 years) and achieving strategic plans;
- Demonstrated history of high level of strategic management skills – including program and project management, financial and funding management, internal organisational management, compliance and governance;
- Evidence of successful communication ability and negotiation and liaison skills at senior levels in government, industry and community organisations;
- Demonstrated experience of stakeholder engagement & relationship building;
- Thorough understanding and experience of working with federal legislative frameworks and funding agreement requirements;
- Demonstrated success in developing and sustaining systems of operations across an organisation to ensure good governance and compliance practices;
- Demonstrated capacity to maintain cooperative and supportive relationships while preserving high standards of ethical behaviour and integrity; and
- Demonstrated ability to think in an analytical manner, systematically examining and improving operations.
