About the role
The Program
The Youth Outreach Recovery Service (YORS) program is a newly created outreach pilot program until June 2022. The program is designed to fill a service gap within the youth mental health sector, responding to the needs of young people between the ages of 16 to 25 years old.
The YORS program will be covering a service catchment across Monash, Manningham, Yarra Ranges, Knox, Maroondah and Whitehorse LGAs.
Who we’re looking for
EACH is l ooking for another qualified Mental Health Worker experienced working within related fields such as AOD, family therapy or Allied Health to join this newly established collaborative program!
As part of the YORS program based out of the Box Hill South and Wantirna South offices, EACH is looking for another Youth Mental Health Worker to support young people in an outreach capacity, providing them with a diverse range of mental health and social engagement supports, making a huge difference in those lives at risk.
You will utilise your demonstrated expertise and understanding in working with young person’s mental health, the impacts of trauma, homelessness, early school departure, family violence and family conflict and have a sound understanding of childhood and adolescent developmental theories and the issues involved in adolescent and/or childhood development.
This is a full-time opportunity until 30 June 2022.
What you’ll be doing
Your days will be varied and highly collaborative. You will support young people in an outreach approach with their social and emotional wellbeing, helping them build resilience and recovery in the areas of mental health, substance use, physical health, and life skills. Providing direct support through the implementation of social and/or psychological strategies, case management skills, therapeutic group work, individual counselling and support, and family counselling/support using a strength-based approach.
Based from either the Box Hill South or Wantirna South office, a Youth Mental Health Worker will support the different catchment areas. Onsite parking available and fleet vehicles will be provided.
Who you’ll be working with
The new YORS team will be made up of a Team Leader, Youth Mental Health Workers, and supported by an administration officer. The team will be working closely with other internal and external services to provide a holistic and supportive experience. Some of these stakeholder services are our Integrated Therapeutic Communities, Youth Residential Recovery programs, Youth and Family Clinics, headspace, Drug and Alcohol Support, and Bush Adventure Therapy program.
The service is confidential and non-judgemental and makes a concerted effort to deliver responsive and relevant services to the needs of GLBTIQ and Aboriginal young people and families.
