We are committed to fostering community development, youth, settlement and employment initiatives and to providing personal support programs to address the needs of disadvantaged youth and community groups including migrants, refugees, humanitarian entrants and visa holders.

Your Contribution: 

 

Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre (BEMAC) is dedicated to presenting, producing and developing culturally and linguistically diverse artists and art-forms within QLD. BEMAC delivers an annual program that includes activities funded by Arts Queensland, Australia Council for the Arts and Multicultural Arts Queensland, which are delivered in partnership with artists and communities. BEMAC is managed by Access/Settlement Services International (SSI), through its Arts and Culture function.

SSI Arts and Culture embraces the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions which ensures that artists, cultural practitioners and citizens worldwide have the right to cultural practice and preservation. The purpose of SSI Arts and Culture is:

  • to promote and facilitate meaningful participation in and enjoyment of arts and cultural activities by all members of the community;
  • to nurture and promote artists and cultural practitioners from refugee and migrant backgrounds to continue their creative practice and professional development in Australia.

The BEMAC Producer will be responsible for managing and delivering programming and operations for BEMAC’s suite of workshops, events (live and digital) and co-presentations, across South East Queensland.

 

The Role:

 

Key responsibilities include project managing events and workshops; building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders; establishing and maintaining strong networks to deliver a successful and impactful BEMAC program.

 

 

About You: 

 

As the BEMAC Producer, you will possess proven track record in arts and culture related event management and production as well as experience working with artists, cultural practitioners and communities of a CALD background. You will also have strong negotiation skills to co-ordinate and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Other key skill and knowledge requirements include:

  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, local councils, private sector, arts industry and community sector
  • Excellent project management and producing skills
  • Sound knowledge of arts/cultural programming and audience engagement practices
  • Sound knowledge of, and networks within, the local arts community
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience
  • Experience working in the community and/or settlement sector (desirable)
