About the opportunity
The Komak Program is a Community Engagement Early Response Model that delivers prevention and engagement activities in Afghan communities. “Komak”, means “help” or “support” in Dari. Working in partnership with community stakeholders, the program aims to enhance inclusion, belonging, social cohesion and community resilience.
As a Komak Case Manager, you will support at-risk young people and families from Afghan and other culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to access COVID-19 vaccinations. The role will deliver community-led, proactive case management and targeted intervention support to resolve hesitancies and barriers to vaccination. The Case Manager will work collaboratively with community leaders, local organisations and trusted health networks to increase understanding of COVID-19 vaccinations, reduce misinformation and increase vaccine confidence and uptake.

About you
To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a degree qualification in social work, psychology or a related discipline.
You will also have:
- Previous case management and/or community development experience
- Demonstrated experience in actively engaging and assuring cultural safety of clients from CALD backgrounds
- An understanding of Afghan ethnic diversity and the issues experienced by ‘at risk’ young people
- An understanding of the Best Interest Principles and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
- Proven ability to work flexibly and innovatively to meet the needs of families and young people
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
