About the organisation

Organisation Name : Australian Childhood Foundation via People for Purpose

The Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) has a strong reputation for delivery of clinical services, professional training and secondary consultation programs built upon up to date, evidence based theoretical frameworks including the neurobiology of trauma, attachment and relational theories and child development.

ACF was started in 1986, by a passionate group of professionals and community advocates who wanted to address major problems in child protection. It was established to give children a voice to ensure their safety and care became a priority within the community. Today, as a national organisation with 32 community partnerships, the Foundation’s focus has not wavered.

Through programs such as its Safeguarding Children Services, ACF aims to support Australian businesses to implement best practice policies and standards to protect children and young people in their care. ACF, in partnership with The Y (formerly YMCA Australia), has recently committed to extending this program beyond those businesses whose main focus is around children.  The Child-Safe Business Initiative will partner with Australian business sectors such as finance, tourism and retail to assess risks to children and young people and to enact policies and practices that keep children and young people safe across all environments involved as part of their services, activities and/or supply chains.
