For more than 100 years, incredible and committed supporters have enabled Mater in Queensland to identify, develop and grow health services and respond to community need even when no one else will.

In July 2019, Mercy Partners announced a new way forward for Mater as a state-wide service and instigated the One Mater transition project to unify all Mater hospitals and health services across Queensland.

As its philanthropic entity, Mater Foundation raises funds by inspiring and engaging people and businesses to partner with Mater to improve health through a wide range of fundraising and philanthropy opportunities. Through this philanthropic engagement, Mater Foundation is committed to revolutionising healthcare for the community through investment in care, education and world-class research.

About the role

We are seeking a talented and accomplished major gifts specialist with a track record of success in best practice fundraising to support a current portfolio (as well as grow the pool) of major donors in support of Mater’s great work.

Key experience, attributes and skills needed:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of best-practice fundraising
  • An accomplished track record in major gift fundraising
  • The ability to confidently make an ask
  • Senior leadership, gravitas and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to fundraising excellence
  • Self-directed and highly organised
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

 

Reporting directly to the Head of Philanthropy, you will be a key member of Mater Foundation’s Major Gifts team.  The right person will be driven and motivated by success. You will have gravitas and be a proven specialist, known for your commitment to excellence and best practice fundraising. As a high-functioning individual, you will be a mature communicator with exceptional listening skills.

In this role, you will be afforded trust and independence and you will be supported with the tools you need to succeed.
