Visionary and entrepreneurial leader prepared to forge new ways …
Founded in the last century and developed sympathetically in tune with the times for 65+ years, this organisation is a proud advocate for the needs, rights, interests, and futures of ageing Queenslanders.
And while it has always supported policies and programs to aid and encourage the inclusion of older people in community life, the time has come for change.
Today, with so many seniors approaching their Third Age more informed and engaged, active and with higher expectations of longevity than previous generations, the game plan has changed. And so the progressive organisation that supports them must also shift its focus.
The dynamic vision is to reposition the place of older people in society. That is, to rethink the perceptions and realisms of the value of seniors at all ages and stages of their lives. To re- evaluate the contributions, they make to communities throughout Queensland. To appreciate and validate their collective wisdom, knowledge, and experience. And to look at what can be done so seniors in Queensland are able to live their best lives.
This is a job so big and so awesome it could take your breath away… unless you happen to be ready to grasp The Really Big One – the worthwhile, people-centred change management and leadership role of a lifetime.
To anticipate success in this high-profile, wide-ranging position, you will need to come well networked across all levels of government. With connections reaching into all corners of commercial business – along with a personality that opens doors – you should be comfortable getting out and about where it counts. Importantly, you must bring the soft skills and dexterity to subtly secure positive returns to your organisation through continued social advocacy.
Although secured government funding for the near future and a financially sound base to begin with, building up new and sustainable alternate sources of income is part of the remit. So, you will need to be adept at securing innovative growth opportunities through commercial activities and philanthropic partnerships, while building on prevailing relationships.
This is a dynamic role that is well suited to a passionate, high energy, courageous and entrepreneurial manager with sterling achievements, who can offer steady hands, a keen intellect and a big heart.
This widely influential peak body is open to applications from experienced Directors with diverse backgrounds who have a success story to tell and the enthusiasm to change lives for the ageing populations of Queensland.
If you genuinely care about community and the aging and you’re confident you have the skills and experience to help, please write to us today.
