Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) is a champion of community media – Australia’s largest independent media sector. Each year, they distribute nearly $20 million in funding to support over 450 community media organisations to share knowledge, foster discussion, create connections and tell the unique stories that make up and strengthen our society.

CBF grants support community broadcasters to produce and distribute media for the community, by the community.

Reporting to the CEO, and working closely with the Board and Audit & Risk committee, you will oversee all financial operations and compliance aspects, and continuously work towards best practice systems and standards. Overseeing the Assistant Accountant & Administration Manager, you will maintain the integrity of financial systems, produce and analyse financial reports and oversee investment, cashflow, and grants distributions.

In this broad and hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for budgets, forecasting, payroll, financial year-end reports, the annual audit, and you will work collaboratively with the team on the compliance reporting aspects of CBF’s grant-making processes and distribution

  
About you:

  • Commercial and financial acumen, together with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Genuine interest and enthusiasm for community media
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, plus strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated high level financial and risk management and accounting skills with five years experience preferably gained in a NFP environment
  • High proficiency with financial management software (Xero preferred)
  • Understanding of grants management (SmartyGrants) and audit process desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting (Bachelor and/or Masters degree, together with comprehensive understanding of Australian Accounting Standards. CPA or CA accreditation
