Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) is a not-for-profit community service provider that offers community support, hardship and emergency relief, mental health services, aged, disability and palliative care and retirement living across Queensland. WMQ is committed to journeying with First Nations People Including by working through its Reconciliation Action Plan.

WMQ operates as a mission activity of the Albert Street Uniting Church to provide accessible and flexible services to older people, those living with a disability or mental illness, and vulnerable children and families.
WMQ is one of the State’s most beloved not-for-profit community service providers with a long and proud history of making a difference in the lives of families, children, and seniors.  As a member of the board, you will contribute to the impact delivered by this wonderful organisation.

OnTalent is delighted to partner with WMQ, a large, dynamic organisation with more than 90 locations throughout southeast Queensland.  With over 100 years of deep history, WMQ has a culture steeped in hope, respect, compassion, empowerment, innovation, justice and integrity.

Board renewal has led to an opportunity for new board members and committee chairs to join the board for an initial term of three years. To complement the existing board members, we are seeking specific skills and experience in:

  • Contemporary governance and risk management
  • Information management, technology and digital
  • Clinical care and clinical governance
  • Legal and compliance

Importantly, you will be an experienced non-executive director who is passionate about WMQ’s purpose with a commitment to the organisation’s relationship with the Uniting Church, purpose, mission, vision, values and the Wesley Charter.  Professional qualifications relevant to corporate governance responsibilities and practices in the context of the design and delivery of community services are essential.  Coupled with a clear understanding of the strategic and functional role of the board, it is envisaged you will bring a contemporary approach to leadership and governance and have demonstrated knowledge of the applicable legal, ethical and fiduciary responsibilities required. Candidates with committee chair experience will be highly valued.

The culture of the WMQ board is collegiate and deeply committed to the mission and the purpose of the organisation.  The board acknowledges the depth and breadth of insight, perspective and experience that diversity brings to the decision-making of the board and encourages qualified candidates with diverse background including cultural and linguistic, people with a disability, women, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.

Appointments are to commence from January 2023.

When applying please provide your resume and a one-to-two page cover letter outlining why you would be an outstanding addition to the WMQ board.  You will be asked to provide information around your alignment to the skills sought on application.

Further questions and confidential enquiries can be made to Natasha Olsson-Seeto or Suzanne Grant on 07 3305 5800.

To apply you must:

  • Provide a Covering Letter (maximum two pages)
  • Provide a Curriculum Vitae
