About the role

An excellent opportunity is available for a Communications Coordinator to join the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes (AAMRI) at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

AAMRI is the peak body for medical research institutes across Australia and is located within WEHI.

 

About the position

The Communication officer is responsible for the coordination of the Medical Research Discoveries website, including promotional campaigns, social media campaigns, stakeholder relations and content management. In conjunction with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, this includes creating new strategies, developing creative content, and liaising with medical research institutes.

This dynamic position provides the opportunity to be part of an innovative national campaign, while also being part of the Association of Australian Medical Research Institute (AAMRI) larger team.

 

Key responsibilities:

Digital Communications

  • Ensuring a cohesive online brand and voice for the Medical Research Discoveries website.
  • Managing a publishing and promotional schedule for the Medical Research Discoveries website.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and contractors.
  • Editing scientific content.
  • Writing social media content and creating artwork.
  • Developing social media campaigns in conjunction with other medical research institutes.
  • Recognising promotional opportunities.
  • Designing paid social media strategies.
  • Ensure AAMRI content and Medical Research Discoveries content is cross-promoting, and does not have conflicting messages.
  • Assisting with AAMRI projects and content on occasion.

 

Strategy and campaigns

  • With the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, drive the strategic direction of Medical Research Discoveries website.
  • Design creative campaign to promote the medical research institute sector, its funding and broad range of discoveries.

 

Media engagement and monitoring

  • Analyse media coverage and recognise upcoming cross promotional opportunities.
  • Recognise potential media opportunities.

 

Reporting

  • Benchmark and report on the medical research discoveries website, creating monthly reports.

 

Selection Criteria:

 

Personal qualities

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in different areas.
  • Understand and interpret complex scientific concepts.
  • Excellent attention to detail, producing quality outcomes.

 

Knowledge and skills

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant experience in marketing, communications or digital media.
  • Experience across a range of communications activities, including marketing, digital communications and digital content.
  • Experience in medical research or a STEM based organisation.
  • Experience with digital and social media, including reaching new audiences.
  • Website management experience, particularly WordPress.
  • Paid social media experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in PhotoShop, MailChimp and CANVA.

 

Terms of appointment
This position is available for 12 months in a part-time (0.4FTE) capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee (PSE) Level 5 ($73,621 to 84,564 pro rata). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
