Bring a passion for philanthropy and the wherewithal to make it all happen …

The original Queensland Museum was established in January 1862 in the Old Windmill on Wickham Terrace.  Today, it is custodian to over 15 million items and specimens that tell the changing story of Queensland. No longer crammed into one small room, the contemporary Queensland Museum Network (QMN) now occupies five sites that safeguard a wealth of national treasures across the State: These are:

  • Queensland Museum, Brisbane
  • The Workshops Rail Museum, Ipswich
  • Cobb+Co Museum, Toowoomba
  • Museum of Tropical Queensland, Townsville
  • Queensland Museum Collections and Research Centre, Hendra
As well as caring for collections, QMN’s activity includes ground-breaking research, exhibitions, programming and major events like World Science Festival Brisbane. In 2002 The Queensland Museum Foundation was formed specifically to support all this invaluable work. Since that time, the Foundation has enriched the enterprise with $30+ million derived through corporate partnerships, private donations, bequests and grants.

Now, it’s time for a new era to begin …
QMN has an impressive array of corporate partners, however changing times have created a driving need to grow the income available to the state-wide network. So, this brand new and esteemed leadership position has been designed to meet agreed financial targets in support of QMN priorities.

The establishment of this green-fields philanthropic arm will need sensitive and expert handling by a polished and articulate fundraiser, people person and diplomatic networker.

To tackle this prestigious, high-profile role, you will need the capability to initially develop and deliver an imaginative, high-return philanthropic framework.  Within that structure, you will identify, cultivate and convert valuable, enduring support from groups and individuals in communities state-wide.

Both intellectual and entrepreneurial, you need to be accomplished across all contemporary fundraising practices, with a proven record in resourceful philanthropic engagement. As for your level of seniority, you may be an executive with many years of expertise – or an up-and coming talent with the energy to make your own indelible mark on this exciting role.
Collaborative and productive under pressure, you have exceptional interpersonal skills, an infectious personality, a passion for Queensland and the drive to consistently reach ambitious targets.
Board and CEO friendly, you know how to lead and deliver a range of donor programs and work up targeted stakeholder events and prepare quality campaigns of varying types. Your history of involvement with professional fundraising bodies will be highly regarded.
