About the Director Community Services Opportunity

Community Services works in partnership with government, non-government and community agencies to improve the lives of children, adults, families and communities who often experience disadvantage and live in varied and challenging circumstances.

 

The Department of Communities and Justice is looking for a resilient and innovative Director who is passionate about ensuring vulnerable children, young people and their families receive sensitive and individualised assistance across our communities in Hunter NSW District

 

As the Director Community Services you will lead and mentor your team, investing time developing capability and building resilience with your team to ensure the smooth delivery of strategic transformation projects within budget for Community Services.

 

The Director Community Services role will also be responsible for.

 

  • Leading and championing change and risk management for the Hunter District 
  • Driving operational performance activities, forming alliances with non- government organisations and communities to deliver appropriate integrated community services to the region.
  • Directing and delivering on reforms across the district, providing high level strategic advice.
  • Forecasting and planning appropriate services to meet local demands in the region  
  • Developing and implementing team management, work planning and coaching initiatives
  • Managing financial budgets, reporting, and resourcing

  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

 

It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants are fully vaccinated and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.

  • a statement of vaccination history which can be requested from the Australian Immunisation Register
  • a record from a health practitioner, which includes a medical certificate.
