Non-Executive Board Director

Family Life, Not for profit, Melbourne 

Excellent opportunity to support community initiatives and programs that change the lives of individuals and families.  Established in 1970 by members of the local community, Family Life has had a rich history in supporting local families in the Bayside, Peninsula and South Eastern suburbs.

Everything we do supports this through our family and individual support services, community strengthening programs, a network of op shops, a vibrant and engaged volunteer community, and passionate and skilled staff. Whether it be a social, emotional or community need, we are focused on developing innovative solutions to support the diverse community that we serve. Over the past 50 years, Family Life has had a strong growth trajectory supported by significant government funding, expanding services across the areas of Family Safety, Family Law and Family Support.  We are strongly invested in place-based community initiatives including our Social Enterprise Stores.  Family Life incorporated under ASIC in 2016. The organisation is made up of 180 employees, 160 Volunteers and operates an annual budget of approximately $20 Million. 

 

We are seeking a Board Member to join Family Life to continue this work in building an exciting future that is focused on service excellence, innovation and growth in meeting community needs. 

Our Board Directors are the lead volunteers for Family Life. The Board is comprised of seven to ten Directors, appointed for three years, with the opportunity to seek reappointment for up to four terms (maximum of 12 years).  The Board is seeking to appoint additional Directors, including a Company Secretary.  There are also opportunities to contribute to specialist sub-committees (who do not have to be Directors).

 

We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in the areas of:

  • business and workforce transformation;
  • clinical and or practice expertise;
  • digital transformation; and 
  • finance.

Successful candidates will demonstrate capabilities in strategic thinking, NFP governance, understanding of fiduciary duty obligations and a strong commitment to the values, vision and purpose of Family Life.  We are seeking independent thinkers who express their views respectfully and confidently, offering a constructive contribution to Board deliberations and decision-making.
