ABOUT PACT

PACT is situated on the unceded land of the Gadigal. We are privileged to gather and create art on their land. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

PACT’s vision is driven by the belief that emerging artists are the engines that power the arts sector, producing the most ground-breaking works of today and tomorrow.

Founded in 1964, we are one of the oldest continuously operating performing arts companies in Australia. For more than 50 years PACT has provided performance makers with the time, space, and professional development needed to advance their artistic careers and drive forward the performance culture of Australia.

Today, PACT continues to nurture the next generation of outstanding performance makers through mentorships, residencies, talks, workshops, exhibitions, and performances. We draw on our history and our network of artists as a unique asset, which—together with our iconic warehouse space in Erskineville—fuels a vibrant and inclusive hub where adventurous artists, curious audiences, and the local community gather.

PACT is an Incorporated Association and governed by a Board of Directors. PACT receives annual program funding from the NSW State Government through Create NSW and is supported by the City of Sydney through an accommodation grant. PACT sources project funding from multiple sources including the Australia Council for the Arts, Create NSW, the City of Sydney, philanthropic foundations and direct donations.
