About the organisation
Melbourne International Jazz Festival is a world-class jazz festival held annually in Melbourne Australia since 1998.
For 10 days every year, we take the underground above ground, showcasing and celebrating jazz culture. We bring together the biggest and best names in international jazz alongside leading and emerging contemporary Australian artists. We commission new work and present world premieres and Festival exclusives. We celebrate the history of jazz as we open up its future.
We pack out concert halls, we take over iconic Melbourne spaces, we bring the spirit of jazz to the city streets, we infiltrate the clubs and bars of Melbourne’s music scene. We sit down, we stand up, we dance. We let the music take over.
We shake people out of their every day. We invite them to look up from their phones, away from their computers; disconnect to reconnect. We break down the divide between artist and audience – it’s just people, united by the magic of the moment, knowing what they’re hearing and feeling will only ever happen once.
About the role
Are you our next Development Coordinator? Join the MIJF team in a unique time of organisational growth, and play a key role in our enhanced focus on funding and philanthropy. An integral role in the MIJF team, you will support the expansion and diversification of MIJF’s financial supporter base, and help nurture and grow MIJF’s key stakeholder relationships.
The primary focus of the role is to support the Deputy CEO & Development Director in implementing a full suite of development activity for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival across the areas of funding, philanthropy and partnerships. You’ll support the effective day-to-day management of sponsor, donor and partner relationships, and help deliver year-round and in-season events. You’ll also assist with grant writing, reporting and acquittals, and oversee MIJF’s database for donors and members. Unafraid to get your hands dirty across a broad range of priorities, you’ll have both a flair for writing and a keen interest in deep-diving into data.
If you’re a motivated self-starter, with a genuine interest in the cultural sector, and an appreciation for the importance of music in fostering community connection and wellbeing – we would love to hear from you!
