About the organisation
Darlinghurst Theatre Company (DTC) has a 30-year legacy of producing and presenting exceptional theatre and supporting the development of professional Australian artists at all levels of their careers. We have produced almost 300 professional works including 115 new Australian plays; theatre that speaks to our times and explores our humanity.
DTC is a loud voice for access, equity and inclusion, and as one of the largest not-for-profit employers of artists and arts workers in the small-medium sector, we are driving real and rapid change in the arts sector through public and ambitious employment targets. We are guided by our Gender Parity Policy and Access, Equity and Inclusion Plan, and we pride ourselves on representational programming, innovative community engagement and creating accessible spaces.
DTC is the long-term resident company in City of Sydney’s 200 seat, heritage-listed Eternity Playhouse, which enables us to build and maintain direct, powerful connections between artists, audiences and communities.
About the role
This new leadership role heads the Marketing and Business Development team at Darlinghurst Theatre Company and is responsible for creating and delivering brand, campaign and sales strategies for the organisation. This role oversees individual production marketing campaigns, is responsible for developing business partnerships to support the company’s activities and promotes the Eternity Playhouse as a venue for hire.
We are looking for an experienced, strategic high achiever who is motivated by sales targets, data-driven and confident in leading a small team. Solid all-round marketing and communications skills will be an asset in this role, enabling you to mentor and support the team and to step into delivery mode when required. Outstanding communication skills, a customer service focus, collaborative approach and a willingness to tackle tasks big and small to facilitate the smooth running of DTC’s busy Communications team are a must.
You may be a mid-career professional from a larger organisation looking to make your mark in a leadership role, or someone with substantial leadership experience who wants to make a difference in a flexible, progressive arts organisation that’s aligned with your values.
In accordance with DTC’s Equity, Access and Inclusion Statement, DTC encourages applications from historically excluded people.
This role is offered ideally as a 0.8 position (4 days a week), with highly flexible conditions for the right candidate, including a combination of office and remote work.
