About the organisation
ABOUT GOT YOUR BACK SISTA
Got Your Back Sista (GYBS) was established as a registered charity in 2016, with a vision to see women and their children happy, thriving and living independently after escaping the trauma of family violence; in fact we’ve helped over 700 women.
Got Your Back Sista offers benevolent relief and support to women and children escaping domestic violence and are at risk of living below the poverty line.
- We give them a hand up to begin again by providing furniture and household items to set up a safe home free from violence.
- We provide one-on-one information and advice, safety planning, exit strategies and advocacy for women living with or have experienced domestic violence.
- We also empower women to thrive by running courses and programs to rebuild their confidence, self-esteem, physical and emotional wellbeing and create pathways to study and employment.
Our services are provided within Newcastle, the Upper and Lower Hunter Valley with a vision to expand to selected regional centres in NSW.
About the role
ABOUT THE ROLE
Got Your Back Sista has been growing steadily and is now seeking to accelerate growth and expand impact. The board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) are looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience scaling an organization, leading a team, and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals.
The COO must be a leader who is able to help others at GYBS deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make the vision a reality. Importantly, the successful COO will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to this mission.
While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the organisation, is it also critical that the team retain the creative spark that drives the GYBS vision.
Reporting to the Founder and CEO of GYBS, the COO will lead all internal operations and will have the following responsibilities:
- Leadership and management
- Fundraising and communications
- Governance
- Human resources, finance and technology
The successful candidate will most likely have had management experience with a for-profit organisation. As noted, this is an organisation driven by the values of its people, so experience in managing a “values-driven” organisation will be highly prized.
- Results-proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation.
- Strategic vision and agility-ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organisational plan.
- Capacity building—ability to effectively build organisation and staff capacity.
- Leadership and organisation—exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top-notch leaders from the bottom up, lead from the top down.
- Action Oriented—enjoys working hard and looks for challenges.
- General Management—thorough understanding of finance, systems, and HR; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems.
- Solid educational background—undergraduate degree required, MBA or similar advanced degree highly desired.
- Program Delivery, External Contractor and Volunteer Management
This is a part-time position – 32 hours/week.
