We are a vibrant, independent, community-based not-for-profit organisation with a specific focus on supporting vulnerable children, young people and their families. Veritas currently delivers services in Permanency Support, Youth Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS), Case Work Support Services (CWSS), Targeted Early Intervention (TEI), Homeless Youth Assistance Program (HYAP), Supported Independent Living (SIL), Interim Care and the Premier’s Youth Initiative. The majority of our funding is provided by the Department of Communities and Justice.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Operations Manager to lead our Homelessness and Early Intervention Team. This is an Executive level position, reporting to the CEO. The Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Specialist Homelessness Service, HYAP and TEI (YAF) service areas of Veritas House. The Operations Manager is accountable for: 

– developing, implementing and achieving the strategic objectives for each of these services

– leveraging your understanding of youth homelessness, early intervention and social housing policy to develop creative responses to the needs of our service users

– championing operational excellence (we enjoy ASES accreditation)

– empowering, mentoring and nurturing an already-strong team

– contributing to wider strategic and business plan development and execution at Veritas House

About you

You will be a values driven leader, with a passion for social justice and in particular, ending the cycle of homelessness. You will be comfortable contributing at a senior level, and your experience working in the homelessness sector and with young people will be highly regarded.  

Selection Criteria

  1. Relevant degree level (or working towards) tertiary qualifications (Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Education, Human Service Management etc).
  2. Proven ability to drive operational performance and service delivery within a collaborative culture.
  3. Demonstrated skills in leading high performing teams in multiple programs across two or more locations. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a strong partnership approach with key stakeholders.
  5. Demonstrated ability to deal with complex issues, work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
  6. Comprehensive understanding of youth homelessness, the wider homelessness sector and the issues facing vulnerable families.
  7. High level understanding of Child Protection Legislation and changes to social policy that impact on our sector.

A driver’s licence, clear Working with Children Check and Criminal History check, full COVID vaccination (currently 3 doses) and the right to work in Australia are pre-requisites for this position.
