About Playgroup SA
Playgroup SA is an incorporated association committed to helping all South Australian families discover the benefits of play for children’s development. Playgroup SA is a not-for-profit organisation funded by government and philanthropic grants, membership, and fundraising
Annually over 2,000 family members attend more than 190 playgroups across South Australia, including rural and regional communities. Playgroup SA offers practical, professional advice and support, training and development including additional needs services, broad insurance coverage, play resources and playgroup workshops among other services.
Playgroup SA has achieved a significant transition, balancing its cottage industry heritage of over 45 years with a powerful new and more authoritative business identity. We are now recognised as an invaluable strategic asset for a new extended stakeholder, partner, and benefactor network. Our objective is to nurture young children, support and connect families, and build stronger communities through high quality playgroups across the state.
In February 2023 Playgroup SA achieved certification through external assessment with the Australian Service Excellent Standards. “Overall, the ASES assessment of Playgroups SA demonstrated that the organisation has and will likely continue to evolve into an organised, positive and service oriented place of work”

- Corporate governance
- Not for profit sector experience
- Law
As an equal opportunity employer, we value diversity and are committed to fostering an environment that is respectful, welcoming and inclusive where people are supported to draw strengths from their identity, culture and community. We encourage applications from First Nations peoples, people living with a disability, LGBTIQ+ people, people who have come to Australia as migrants or refugees and veterans.
Those appointed would need to be able to commit the necessary time to satisfactorily meet their responsibilities (estimated time commitment is Board meeting attendance to be held in Adelaide or online approximately once every 6 weeks, as well as the occasional meeting in between and other board and committee work).
