About the Roles

Temporary roles offered:

  • 1x Parental leave backfill until beginning of August 2024 (full time)
  • 1x blockbuster exhibition Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs project support between October 2023 to May 2024 (part time at 3 days a week) 

The Content Producer is responsible for managing the AM’s social media channels to bring the AM’s collections to life and build audiences for topics including AM exhibitions, programs and science initiatives, while driving revenue and awareness. The successful candidate’s creative and motivated mindset will drive new ideas and strategies to increase our audience and online engagement.

Both roles will offer a slightly different focus to the BAU responsibilities of the Content Producer, as outlined below:

Parental leave backfill full time for a period up to 10 months

This role will focus on managing all of the AM’s social media channels, including managing the organic social media publishing schedule and content plan, and align activity with other teams, including PR and Marketing. This role will also help evolve the AM’s presence on social platforms, testing new products and ideas, keeping up-to-date with platform developments, advising and training colleagues, providing analysis on overall performance, monitoring customer perceptions and identifying key influencers and opportunities.

Blockbuster exhibition Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs project support part time 21 hours per week until May 2024

This role will focus on creating content for the blockbuster exhibition Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs, including producing, filming and editing creative and captivating social media content about exhibition, capturing photographic and video content, ideating creative content pieces on the exhibition for the AM’s organic social media channels, and working with the marketing team to produce creative content pieces for the AM’s paid media channels (digital, paid social media etc). From 18 November 2023 until May 2024, the Australian Museum will host one of the largest and most spectacular exhibitions Sydney has ever seen, Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs. More than 3,000 years in the making, visitors will discover over 180 ancient Egyptian treasures. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the blockbuster event Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs

About you

This position provides an outstanding opportunity for an excellent communicator and storyteller with creative and journalistic flair and strong attention to editorial detail and factual accuracy to join a passionate Marketing and Communications team. To be successful in this role you will:  

  • Possess excellent video and photographic skills and experience, including creation of content, shooting, editing and production with the ability to optimise this content for social media platforms.
  • Be willing and able to undertake out-of-hours monitoring as required.
  • Possess excellent digital knowledge and skills including statistical analysis and reporting, experience shooting and developing video & photographic content, experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Photoshop, etc.), and social media management tools.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience managing social media, digital marketing and digital communications.
