It supports individuals and organisations to address complex ethical issues and stimulates public engagement through flagship programs like the Festival of Dangerous Ideas (FODI). It remains the only organisation in the world providing practical guidance on complex ethical issues across the full spectrum of society.  

About the role

Presented by The Ethics Centre, FODI is bold, audacious, and thought provoking. Never shocking just for the hell of it, it is a curated festival with a long history of bringing credentialed people from all over the world to gather and share. FODI is unique in how it blends talent from a range of disciplines, backgrounds and perspectives. The Festival holds uncomfortable ideas up to the light and challenges thinking on some of the most persevering and difficult issues of our time, questioning our deepest held beliefs and desires. FODI is for curious minds, who are hungry for more information and eager to connect with others that also want to better understand the world and their place in it. Alongside ticketed talks, FODI presents disruptive and experiential art and theatre experiences.  

The next Festival of Dangerous Ideas will be held in late winter 2024. 

In this role, you will be developing, planning, implementing and optimising our marketing campaign strategies for FODI, ensuring brand, campaign and revenue targets are achieved, as well as preparing reporting on campaign activity to implement best practice learnings. 

To ensure success, you will need excellent knowledge of marketing, campaign and brand strategies with a strong understanding of the digital environment. An outstanding Campaign Manager will be someone who uses data and insights to deliver increased brand awareness and achieve revenue targets. You will be a team player, highly motivated, agile and will work closely with the content team in the rollout of campaigns across channels.  

This role sits within the Engagement portfolio which covers marketing and communications activity across The Ethics Centre and its various departments and initiatives. Initiatives range from education services to consulting services across industries. The Engagement portfolio leads all content creation and public programs including The Ethics of series, In Conversation with series and FODI.   


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Implementing branding, advertising, promotional and sales campaigns for FODI.  
  • Increasing brand awareness and achieving sales targets through innovative campaigns that include paid, earned and owned strategies.  
  • Collaborating with the content team for dynamic content and synchronised digital-first campaigns.  
  • Tracking campaign budgets and providing reporting as needed.  
  • Preparing marketing and campaign briefs for internal and external use, that include detailed budgets and timelines.  
  • Briefing and ongoing liaison with external agencies and freelancers (such as designers, photographers, videographers, printers and publicists) including supervising and coordinating communications contractors onsite at FODI.  
  • Monitoring and assessing campaigns and measuring the ROI of campaigns.  
  • Preparing and presenting campaign reports to senior management.  
  • Ensuring external facing channels and brand representation is up to date and working optimally.  
  • Coordinating production of brand signage onsite at FODI (printed and digital).  
  • Writing copy for promotional purposes, landing pages and campaigns.  
  • In consultation with the Head of Marketing and Communications and the content team, general website updates and enhancements, eg, new landing pages and calls-to-action placement, lead generation.  
  • Keeping informed of marketing and media strategies and trends.  
  • Assisting with search engine optimisation (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) efforts for website and content as required.  
  • Working with the Head of Marketing and Communications and Director of Fundraising and Development to obtain and manage marketing and media partnership opportunities. 

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Campaign Manager reports to the Head of Marketing and Communications. The role will involve frequent collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the organisation and will work closely with the Marketing and Content Coordinator, Content Manager and FODI Production team.  


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE  

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or communication is a must.  
  • More than eight years’ experience in a campaign management role or similar.   
  • Demonstrated experience and success with campaigns to sell tickets to general public events/ B2C marketing.  
  • Be digitally savvy, with a digital-first approach to marketing and communications strategy. 
  • Proficiency in electronic marketing automation software and website content management systems. 
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing strategies, channels, and branding.  
  • Superb communication and collaboration abilities.  
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Strong time, project management and organisational abilities.  
  • Understanding of current marketing trends.  
  • Experience of managing integrated, end-to-end campaigns.  
  • Sound knowledge of SEO and SEM best practice, including proficiency with google analytics and adwords.  
  • The ability to successfully manage multiple campaigns running at the same time.  
  • An interest in ethics.  
  • Be a flexible team player. 

WHAT WE OFFER    

  • Salary $100K on a full-time annualised basis, pro-rated for a fixed term, 5 month, 3 April – 13 September 2024 (for clarity, $3,846.15 per fortnight), plus 11% superannuation   
  • Hybrid working from home and office days (Monday – Wednesday based in Sydney office)
