About the Team

SSI is launching a new community-based service across Victoria, Queensland and NSW to support participants who have been recently released from Immigration Detention to re-integrate into communities, equipped with the skills and support to manage their psychosocial and health needs, and gain sustainable employment and accommodation.

About You

The Principal Clinician, will be part of a unique program across Victoria, Queensland and NSW providing leadership and guidance to a team delivering assessments and therapeutic interventions to participants of SSI’s new Case Assessment Clinical Team (CACT) part of our Status Resolution Support Service (SRSS) across Victoria, NSW and Queensland. The Principal Clinician, Practice exercises expert clinical acumen, and has the distinctive opportunity to manage a direct case load, lead practice integrity and guide staff professional development, and engage in clinical projects that contribute to our understanding of the evidence base and effectiveness of what we do.

Responsibilities:

     * Provide expert level consultation to clinical teams on clinical practice issues, drive and embed a strong practice culture, focus and conduct quality audits of clinical practice and interventions.

     * Delivery of culturally responsive assessments, offence-specific and offence-related group and/or individual based interventions for clients

     * Enhance the quality and effectiveness of the CACT service through the provision of individual supervision and professional development for clinical staff and case managers

     * Implementing highly developed understanding of and extensive practice experience in clinical work with high risk and complex clients, including assessment of risk, risk management and therapeutic work.

     * Utilising understanding and experience whilst working with clients from migrant and refugee backgrounds who may have experienced trauma, moral injury and persecution

     * Evaluating psychological intervention programs through quality improvement initiatives, and to plan and develop the service to meet the needs of people.

Essential Criteria

     * Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

     * Minimum of 8 years post graduate experience in Clinical or Forensic Psychology

     * A minimum of 2 years of being a practicing supervisor.

     * AHPRA approved supervisor

     * Demonstrated capacity to effectively engage in clinical leadership and management of clinical processes across a multidisciplinary team, including cross sector initiatives and partnerships with a wide range of professional’s organisations and stakeholders.

     * Demonstrated experience in running multidisciplinary meetings, supervision, case conferences and clinical review meetings

     * Specialist training and/or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical or forensic field is desirable as is experience working with clients from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds
